WIGGINS, Miss., March 23, 2014 — Tice Engineering Incorporated announces the recent hire of Matthew Kirkland, former Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) engineer, to join their team as a new project engineer.

Matt Kirkland, a graduate of Mississippi State University, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and holds approximately four years of experience in Bridge Design and Survey fields. Prior to joining Tice Engineering, he worked for MDOT in Jackson, Mississippi as the Bridge Design Engineer.

"My goal is to continue to provide employment opportunities for people from Stone County that are interested in returning home after college," says Ryan Tice, president of Tice Engineering. Currently, 71.4 percent of the company's staff has a college education, and 78.9 percent of them grew up in Stone County. "Matt is an excellent example of a kid graduating from Stone High School, going to college, earning a degree, and joining the workforce in a large city. Just about every employee here has done the same thing, including myself. One thing we have in common is that we all returned home."

With Matt's background and previous work experience as a structural engineer, his speciality complements the existing team of professionals at Tice Engineering. Tice says, "With Matt joining the team, we can now play ball."
