CRITZ STREET & STAPP STREET DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS
CLIENT: CITY OF WIGGINS

Tice Engineering was hired by the City of Wiggins to evaluate reoccurring drainage issues at the corner of Critz Street and Cavers Avenue and design improvements to resolve documented issues. The main project design included grading a defined, 4’ flat bottom ditch between the three existing drainage pipes and regrading areas outside of the new ditches to redirect storm water through the site. The design also included the installation of headwalls at the existing pipes and the use of a flexible block erosion control mat downstream of the pipes to reduce erosion and the installation of a larger pipe beneath an existing driveway to accommodate the flow volumes through the site. The City of Wiggins also contracted Tice Engineering to evaluate reoccurring drainage issues along Stapp Street from E. Border Avenue to Harry Hall Avenue and design improvements to resolve documented issues. The existing site includes several driveway culverts of varying sizes that are currently not adequate to drain storm water from the area. This results in frequent flooding along the roadway and in residential yards. The proposed improvements include replacement of four culverts with larger, precast box culverts. The existing ditches would be regraded to promote positive drainage.
